Cassey’s Story I am the Café Supervisor and a Business and Admin Apprentice for Bold & Brave. I have been with Young Somerset for 1 year and 3 months. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my horse Arthur, my 2 cats JJ and Scooby and my dog Marmaduke.I grew up in Somerset, did well in my GCSEs and I went to college for a year. However, I found that education pathway was not for me, I didn’t enjoy it, so I dropped out. After this I continued working part time in a pub restaurant.I joined Young Somerset doing work experience for a couple of months, I enjoyed this as it allowed me to gain knowledge and find a skill set that I liked. After this I moved onto a zero-hour contract to help with setting up the café in Taunton Library, and to develop my skills further. This allowed me to grow as a person and has helped me to build my confidence.Later in June, Young Somerset opened a post for multiple apprenticeships positions. I went on to apply for the Business and Admin post and got accepted in July.During my apprenticeship I had very good feedback about my work in the café. I really like the friendly atmosphere, being constantly busy, and the coffee is good! There was an upcoming opportunity of the role of a café supervisor, and I was delighted that I got the role!I really like working in the café and I think it’s a great opportunity for Young People to develop confidence and gain valuable skills. In my daily week I work one day doing admin, one day doing studies and the other three in the café. I look forward to what my next steps are going to be. 💙 You can help us make a difference to more young people's lives by supporting Young Somerset - Donate Today!
