In partnership with Somerset Skills & Learning, Young Somerset are hosting a series of free online workshops to give families the right tools and advice to be able to support their wellbeing during lockdown.

The course includes four consecutive, 2 hour sessions and will take place weekly on Monday evenings 18:00-20:00. This is a rolling course; the first course will begin on Monday 1st February and will be repeated monthly until July. If you are unable to attend all four sessions, you can still enrol on the course. Session 1 - Looking After Your Families Health in Lockdown: The 7 Pillars of Wellbeing - 01/02/21

The course will provide support and information about the 7 pillars of holistic family health and wellness, and how to improve these areas in your family life during lockdown. These 7 pillars are: Sleep, Nutrition, Movement, Emotional, Spiritual, Social and Routine. The course will be delivered via zoom in a 2 hour session, and will help you to find your unique version of health and wellness and how to set goals to incorporate these into your family life. Young Somerset will be able to answer any questions you may have. There will be activities and chances to gain peer support and friendships with other participants. The workshop will be tailored to meet individual family needs.

Session 2 - Young People – Building Resilience in Lockdown - 08/02/21

Session 2, hosted by Young Somerset, looks at how you can help your child to build resilience and cope with the challenges of lockdown. This 2 hour Zoom workshop is led by a Wellbeing Practitioner, and will involve a mixture of interactive activities and slides. This workshop will be tailored to individual needs and parents will have an opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences, hints and tips.

Session 3 - How to Make Physical Activity Fun for the Whole Family in Lockdown - 15/02/21

Session 3 looks at the importance of exercise, explores the barriers to being more active, and gives suggestions on how to make physical activity an ongoing and fun part of daily family life. This 2 hour Zoom session led by a Youth Worker, will help you to explore fun and affordable ways of incorporating exercise into your every day life, in a way that suits your family. The course will be tailored to individual needs and there will be activities and chances to gain peer support and friendships with other participants.

Session 4 - Making a Wellbeing Plan for Me and My Family and Sticking to it - 22/02/21

Session 4 uses what you have learnt in sessions 1-3 to help you make a holistic health and wellbeing plan for your family. It will look at factors such as exercise, diet, routine, sleep and resilience to help you stay healthy during lockdown. This 2 hour zoom session, will be a chance to share hints and tips on how to make a plan and how to stay motivated and keep on track. Young Somerset will be able to answer any questions you may have. The session will be tailored to individual’s needs. Friendships between adults may also be formed within group discussion!
