Change is happening at Young Somerset - read this important and exciting announcement about Young Somerset and NCS...

Since 2011, as Young Somerset, we have been running the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme in the Somerset area under our Social Action strand of work. NCS is currently the largest contracted piece of work that we do.

In 2011 we took a few young people away on one of the first ever NCS programmes, and in Summer 2019 we have worked with over 300 young people on NCS; overall supporting a total of more than 1500 young people on the NCS programme. We continue to work with many of these NCS Graduates as a part of our Graduate offer, Youth Board and within many other projects at Young Somerset. We have loved working with all of these young people.

As a programme NCS is continuing to grow and develop. Young Somerset are also continuing to grow in a different and exciting way: as young people’s needs in Somerset are evolving, so is our work to support them.

We have treasured our time working with NCS and are proud of our NCS offer for the young people of Somerset. Young Somerset will continue to work with NCS Summer 2019 Graduates, and will deliver NCS in Autumn 2019 for young people across the county, including working with Somerset based Special Educational Needs Schools as a bespoke offer of the NCS programme.

Young Somerset will begin exploring new pieces of work to work with a variety of young people in the county. Young Somerset would also like to thank the organisational partners that have supported us to create this high quality NCS offer over the years. From December, the NCS Team will be continuing to work at Young Somerset working with young people in these new areas of work.
