Due to the continued growth of our Alternative Education Team, Young Somerset are looking to recruit a Youth Worker to work in and around the eastern side of Somerset and support our Alternative Education work with children and young people within: groups, alternative education and also mentoring on a 1:1 basis. 

These roles would suit those from an Education, social care or youth work background and also those who have experience of working with young people in other settings who are seeking a change. 

We are looking for people who have experience of working with young people in a variety of community/education settings, who have empathy and an understanding of the key challenges young people in Somerset face. A Level 3 qualification in a relevant area (such as Youth and community work, social care or education) is required (or commitment to work towards).  

We are currently operating through a blend of digital and face to face work. However, this is a role that will be predominately working directly with young people. This will involve also require some countywide travel.

Salary: The salary band for this role is £23,514 - £24,465

Hours: 37 hours per week

The post holder will be required to work flexibly, out-of-hours where required.

Holiday entitlement is 27days, plus 8 Bank Holidays with an additional 5 days after 5 years service (pro rata for part time staff).

Contract: Permanent

Start Date: TBC
