Join Our Youth Board

Young Somerset’s Youth Service offers Open Access Youth Work, Skills Development and Social Action to young people aged between 8-18 years throughout the county.  We need your help!

Young People are the heartbeat of Young Somerset.

At Young Somerset we believe in putting young people first, and it is vital that we design Youth services for young people, with young people. This is an opportunity for young people to be heard and have a say in how our services develop.

Would you like to join our Youth Board?

  • Do you live in Somerset and are aged between 13-18?* Up to 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Would you like to help shape the future of Youth Services that Young Somerset deliver?
  • Do you have an interest in your community and helping others?
  • Are you: friendly, a team player and wanting to make a difference?

The Youth Board will help steer how we develop our Youth Services throughout Somerset – have your say, meet new people and develop skills for life.

Sounds interesting? What is the role?

  • You’ll attend a meeting every 6 Weeks, where you’ll contribute to discussing areas of improvement on the services which are being delivered.
  • You’ll attend trips to visit multiple areas of Young Somerset delivery, Such as Youth Club’s, Music events, Skate Jam’s etc. Enabling you to gain understanding of what we do and give you a Perspective on what we can add to our services.
  • You’ll be asked to attend Committee meetings to voice your views.
  • Sitting on young people’s panels at staff interviews, making key decisions on who the Youth Work professionals are at Young Somerset.
  • Help promote opportunities for young people throughout Somerset to access good quality Youth Work.
  • In return we will offer trips and opportunities for you to meet with peers who also want to make a difference to young people’s Youth Services across Somerset.

Full training will be provided with opportunities to progress to other roles within Young Somerset.

If this sounds like the perfect role for you, please complete our Membership Form and contact [email protected] / 07966 991446
