Fundraising Ideas

Whilst Young Somerset is primarily funded by a few organisations, we heavily rely on the support of fundraisers, not only for financial support, but also because fundraisers are the most effective at spreading the word about what Young Somerset do.

Fundraising top tips:

  • Do something you enjoy! Whether your passionate about baking, cycling or simpling helping people, use your passion to make a difference. Remember to ask friends and family to get invloved and consider what skills they can bring to your event too.
  • Set a target! Having a target will motivate you and your fellow fundraisers to smash it. Make it as easy as possible for people to donate and set up a fundraising page.
  • Spread the word! In a day of social media it is easier than ever to spread the word about your fundraising event. Make sure you use every channel to promote your event, don't forget word of mouth is a powerful tool too - think friends, family and work colleagues. After all, the more people, the more money and awareness is raised.

We have had some incredibly successful fundraising events recently, to give you some ideas.

A Sponsored Skydive!

Sponsored Fun Run

This group of energetic fundraisers organised a sponsored fun run to the top of Glastonbury Tor and raised £220 for charity.

Charity Movie Night

This group pulled all the stops out for their charity movie night at the Roxy cinema in Axbridge. They showed the movie Wall-E and served homemade lemonade and cookies during the interval. As a result they raised £180 for Charity.

Bake Sale

A tried and trusted fundraising event that never disappoints. This team of bakers managed to raise £130 for charity, whilst also rasing awareness.

So now it's your chance to get creative, and make a difference to young people's lives in Somerset.

We would love to hear your fundraising ideas and support you in any way we can.
