At Young Somerset we believe in putting young people first, and it’s vital that we co-design wellbeing services for young people, with young people. This is an opportunity for young people to be heard, and have a say in how services develop. Would you like to join our Wellbeing Participation Group? Are you living in Somerset and aged between 13-18?* Up to 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs. Would you like to help shape the future of Wellbeing Services in Somerset? Do you have an interest in mental health and helping others? Are you: friendly, a team player and wanting to make a difference? The Participation Group will help steer how we develop mental health support throughout Somerset – have your say, meet new people and develop skills for life. Sounds interesting? What is the role? Quarterly meetings (every 3 months) to play a key role in raising awareness of the issues that young people face, raising awareness of Mental Health issues and developing Young Somerset’s Wellbeing Service. Attending Participation events supported by Young Somerset staff with key organisations that work in Mental Health including NHS England Sitting on young people’s panels at staff interviews, making key decisions on who the Wellbeing professionals are in Somerset. Help promote opportunities for young people throughout Somerset to access good quality Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Support. In return we will offer trips and opportunities for you to meet with peers who also want to make a difference to young people’s Wellbeing services in Somerset. Full training will be provided with opportunities to progress to other roles within Young Somerset. Youth Work Volunteer We are looking for volunteers to join our Youth Work Team Expand This role provides volunteers with the opportunity to gain experience of working with young people and to contribute to the work of Young Somerset. Become a Wellbeing Champion If you’re a young person aged 13-18, living in Somerset, and you’re passionate about mental health and helping others - why not become a Wellbeing Champion for Young Somerset? Expand Want to become a Wellbeing Champion? Are you living in Somerset and between the age of 13 and 18? Would you like to contribute to the content of Young Somerset’s Wellbeing Instagram page? Are you: approachable, reliable, friendly and passionate about mental health and helping others? Can you provide up to an hour a week of your time for this exciting, voluntary role? The timings of the content is flexible! Full training is provided with opportunities to progress within roles at Young Somerset, including Hub Buddy role. What is the role? If this sounds like something you would be interested in, we would require you to record a short clip or create a post by providing a picture and text once a week for our Wellbeing Instagram page - @YSWellbeing. This content will fit in with our weekly theme, such as low mood, anxiety, stress, etc... Full guidance will be given and content will be sent directly to us for us to upload (so no need to worry about the technical side of it!). Some examples of content that is required includes: wellbeing tips, coping techniques, what they have been up to that has helped their mental health, psychoeducation, healthy cooking/eating well, things you are grateful for, and any other ideas you may have. At Young Somerset we believe in putting young people first, and it is vital that we design Youth services for young people, with young people. This is an opportunity for young people to be heard and have a say in how our services develop. Would you like to join our Youth Board? Do you live in Somerset and are aged between 13-18?* Up to 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs. Would you like to help shape the future of Youth Services that Young Somerset deliver? Do you have an interest in your community and helping others? Are you: friendly, a team player and wanting to make a difference? The Youth Board will help steer how we develop our Youth Services throughout Somerset – have your say, meet new people and develop skills for life. Sounds interesting? What is the role? You’ll attend a meeting every 6 Weeks, where you’ll contribute to discussing areas of improvement on the services which are being delivered. You’ll attend trips to visit multiple areas of Young Somerset delivery, Such as Youth Club’s, Music events, Skate Jam’s etc. Enabling you to gain understanding of what we do and give you a Perspective on what we can add to our services. You’ll be asked to attend Committee meetings to voice your views. Sitting on young people’s panels at staff interviews, making key decisions on who the Youth Work professionals are at Young Somerset. Help promote opportunities for young people throughout Somerset to access good quality Youth Work. Dulverton Youth Club Volunteer Expand This role provides volunteers with the opportunity to gain experience of working with young people and to contribute to the work of Young Somerset. Volunteers will work with and support young people in our Dulverton youth club, helping to set up and run activities led by the Youth Worker.
