In 2012 Charlotte was the only student in her school to take part in the second ever NCS programme, delivered by Young Somerset. Taking this bold step to sign up on her own, she pushed herself beyond her limits to create new friendships and develop skills that would benefit her in years to come.

While on her NCS journey, she grew in confidence and had many new experiences. To this day Charlotte always looks back on her NCS experience as positive one, that she is so grateful to have had the opportunity to do. Following her NCS graduation, she decided to continue her work with Young Somerset, by volunteering and working as a Team Leader on future programmes.

While studying for her Psychology degree, Charlotte decided to complete her work experience here at Young Somerset. After her time on NCS, Charlotte started to work behind the scenes preparing programs and inspiring others. During this time, she realised NCS was a passion of hers and after being offered a permanent job at Young Somerset as the Engagement Officer, she has never looked back.

From a timid year 11 student to a successful employee Charlotte, has always gone above and beyond to ensure young people in Somerset have positive experiences. Currently, Charlotte is actively involved in her community, running a weekly youth club in Burnham-on-Sea and passing on her knowledge and experiences to young people across Somerset. It’s easy to forget that Charlotte is only 22 as she continues to progress in Young Somerset and is a vital part of the team, making this summer a success. This year will mark seven years since Charlotte was first introduced to NCS and she has gone from strength to strength.
